Matt,

I have the middle seat installed. I didn't cut the floor. I bolted the rails THROUGH the floor to the threaded holes underneath. First I removed the plywood floor and located the proper holes. You will find plastic "screws" in the holes to keep them sealed. I put the rails down over the screws to determine which to remove. After I removed the proper screws, I set the plywood back in, and drilled pilot holes using a small bit, about 1/8 inch, up through the bolt holes up from the beneath the van, being careful not to touch the threads. I then removed the plywood again and drilled down my new pilot holes. Finally, I bolted down through the carpet, through my new holes, into the floor. The upside is, that like the posting recently, the rails are raised above sill level, so I can remove the seat by just removing the four bolts in the rails, and sliding the seat out. The downside is that when I remove the seat, the rails are sitting on the floor still. Trip hazzard? I have also found that with the seat folded forward, I can still put down the bed. So, if I don't want to pull out the seat to get to the fridge, I don't have to. I will try to take a couple of digital pictures and send them to you. Frankly, I did it this way because I had never seen the seats installed before and it seemed the way to do it! I didn't think about cutting the plywood and carpet. Seems like a lot more work.

John.

Could one of you with a Westy middle seat take some digipix of your floor for me?

I have the seat, and the rails/bolts, but need a visual on how VW sliced the wooden floor, and where, etc.

P-mail is fine. Big files okay. Pics with wife or girlfriend okay, too.
