I completed the head gasket repair job on the passenger side of the engine in my 85 1.9 L and, I must say, it's a real thrill to see that side of the engine looking so clean and shiny and DRY! ... Read about my exploits here: http://members.fortunecity.com/davebaker1/westy/id35.htm Still have my idle hunting problem, but the main thing I'm wrestling with is a leak around the fuel pump where the horizontal pipe that runs from the right head goes into the pump, sealed with simply an O ring. Yesterday, I pulled the pipe out and put RTV gasket maker around the O ring, then reinserted the pipe. Today, after it had had a chance to cure, I filled up the expansion tank with water, and the pipe leaked just as bad if not worse than before. Frustrated, I pulled the pipe and put more goop around it. Has anyone else experienced difficulties sealing this joint? What was your solution? TIA. Dave in KC 85 Westy |
