Having a bear of a time getting a 2.0 L aircooled motor to slide into the tranny on a 78 Westfalia. The motor is from a 77 but everythng should be the same. Any adivce from experienced engine pullers would be greatly appreciated. The motor goes in upto the point where the flywheel teeth are not exposed anymore but after that just does not budge. We have tried keeping the engine in place and rolling the van back into it and rocking the engine in every direction with no luck. On other engines we've installed on this van they just sort of pop in. On another note, the donor vehicle (77 full Westy) has lots of great parts that are free for the taking. If its light I may be willing to ship some stuff but anyone locally is welcome to any or all parts. Anyone know of any of these parts like the front window curtains, propane tank will fit a vanagon (minimum vanagon content)?
Thanks, Andrew Fox 86 Westy 77 Westy (temporarily) |
