Both times I tried a system flush using the "tee" I had disappointing results. The resulting temperature needle position was higher them before I started. IMHO, due to the Vanagon's unusual cooling geometry, all the loosened junk settles out in the radiator. What little velocity it achieves in the cooling lines is lost in the relatively large radiator core. I recommend removing the radiator and find a shop that can "blast" it out. If memory serves me; heat, pressure, chemicals and sonic waves are used to scour the inside. Unfortunately these shops are "far and in between".
