Subject: How Fast Was I Driving??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi list,

I have a question:

I drove yesterday on the German Autobahn, between Nurnberg and Munich for a few hours as a test drive, since doing some repairs on my Vanagon, and after removing the A/C completely.

I was cruising for quite some time, and the tach was sitting right at 5000rpm (I know... there are many list members who will claim that one should not drive the 2.1 at over 4000rpm.. but I do it... whatever).

At 5000 rpm, the speedometer reads 91 mph.

I have 185 R14 C tires on the alloy 14" wheels (although the manual says that 205 is the "correct" size)

My question, is there anyway to determine how fast I was going? Was it faster or slower than 91 mph? My guess is that with smaller tires, the speedometer will read faster (I may be confused here)... but is there a way to determine the percentage or anything to accurately measure speed?

Thanks

RSF
