The "fuzz" is there to keep condensation from forming on the inside surface. If you can't get it clean, dye it with fabric dye..

I just bought a used 1982 Westy poptop... and now comes the fun part... restoring it, and preparing it for mounting on my Vanagon.

I see that the interior top surface of this thing is coated with a strange fuzz... it seems like it was glued on, and of course it is moldy and mildewy.

Rather than try to clean this surface, has anyone had experience with just removing this "fuzz" and sanding the fiberglass, and repainting with a marine paint or something.

I would rather that any moisture that is left in the bus does not rise up and collect in a fuzzy roof surface. Seems that a hard surface would be really smarter, and definately easier to clean.

Thanks for any ideas!

IMPORTANT!!! In order to reply to me, you must have the word "FISH" somewhere in the subject line of the email. Otherwise it goes directly in the trash.
