Bob gives a valuable URL. On my last trip to Michigan I was driving alone and had nothing better to do than do the math. We use Miles/hour or Km/hour. Each hour has 3600 seconds (60 minutes X 60 seconds/minute). I decided to use the mile (or km) as the base unit due to the super highways having mile (km) markers along the side of the road. So I figures out that it should take me 1 minute between mile markers to go 60 mph (in the USA) or in the rest of the world, it should take me 36 seconds to go 1 km (3600 seconds /100 km). In my CDN 91 syncro westy, I have to go 110 kph by the speedometer to make it from one km post to the next km post in 36 seconds. Here is a table that I just made up in my spreadsheet (I hope this is correct):

MPH seconds/min 60 3600 60.0 seconds per mile 65 3600 55.4 seconds per mile 70 3600 51.4 seconds per mile 75 3600 48.0 seconds per mile 80 3600 45.0 seconds per mile 85 3600 42.4 seconds per mile 90 3600 40.0 seconds per mile 95 3600 37.9 seconds per mile 100 3600 36.0 seconds per mile 105 3600 34.3 seconds per mile 110 3600 32.7 seconds per mile 115 3600 31.3 seconds per mile 120 3600 30.0 seconds per mile

KPH 70 3600 51.4 seconds per km 80 3600 45.0 seconds per km 90 3600 40.0 seconds per km 100 3600 36.0 seconds per km 110 3600 32.7 seconds per km 120 3600 30.0 seconds per km 130 3600 27.7 seconds per km 140 3600 25.7 seconds per km

Enjoy. Malcolm
