Subject: More Mystery Electrical? -87 Syncro GL

Hello again everyone.

I have not yet nailed down the exact cause of my problems yet but I have several leads I am working on, thanks to all of you who have been very helpful.

Last night however, I had a new development that may or may not be related to the previous and on going problem. As I was driving to and from my destination yesterday evening, I noticed a significant surge and stall to the vehicle as I was in the 3000-3500rpm range. Hard to explain but here goes: I am say cruising along a semi flat road in 3rd, just slow enough not to shift to 4th. As I slightly change foot pressure on the gas pedal to maintain my speed, I feel the vehicle pull hard as I press or slow hard as I release the pedal, in a very jumpy manor. Keep in mind, that the vehicle did not exibit any of the usual symtoms I've been trying to trace. Not once during this trip did the tacho jump around nor did the engine get rough or feel like it would die. There was 4 hours between ariving and leaving my destination and the trip was approx 30 minutes each way. The problem started about 6 minutes into the trip there and persisted the entire trip home.

Is there a chance that this problem is related to the other? Was tinken Sie?

I have a reasonable amount of automotive knowledge but this is my first Vanagon so please excuss my ignorance in these matters.
