The water pump will move the water once it has warmed up. Trust me, I have done this twice in the last few months, and many times before. Most recently with a $3000 new engine at stake. The 2.1s may be slightly different, but I have used this method on my previous '86.

A flush "T" installed in one of the heater hoses flushes the engine via the heater cores and the bypass hose which aren't controlled by the thermostat.

What it doesn't flush the radiator or the long coolant lines running between the radiator and the thermostat housing and coolant distributor if the thermostat isn't open.

Opening the bleeder on the radiator will flush out the long tube between the coolant distributor and the radiator, but I don't understand how you can effectively flush a 12' long hose with a 1.25" id through a 1/2" round opening located about 2' above the hose.
