Well, I don't know -- I've taken any number of car batteries (and big
deep-cycle) apart to melt the lead to make bullets out of and they always seem
pretty firmly attached. And I was just about to cut off the posts on fairly
large deep-cycle to fit it under the deck of my '82 diesel westy. But, that's
only a $60 battery, not a $150.
But lead is awfully soft and easy to cut, I'd really not think you'd impart
too much twist in sawing them off. I'm planning on using a sawsall.
