Last month on my 1990 I changed the water pump, the 2 small hoses to
the oil cooler as well as the 2 small oil cooler metal tubes. I never
had to go near the exhaust in any way and I did not need to remove the
oil cooler, A/C compressor or distributor. I lost about 2 gallons of
coolant which I returned back to the system at the end of the job. I
think your dealer does not know what they are doing.
