Subject: My positive experience with 14" Vredestein tires
Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
I wanted to get some new 14" tires for my '85 Westy. I came up against the
same brick wall that most of you folks do about getting some decently high
load rated tires for the van. I used the info on the Vanagon.com site and
saw that Vredestein made a tire that should fit my bill. After an internet
search I found a supplier in Colorado. When I called him he said that there
were many suppliers of these tires in different parts of the US. He was
nice enough to refer me to a supplier that was much closer to me here in New
Jersey. The place is called Jim Breault Tires and it is in Kearny, NJ. I
spoke with one of the guys there and he recommended a new tire they have
which is called the Comtrac. They are 185NR14 load rated at 102N (higher
than the Michelin MXTs that were on the van). I bought them for around $80
each plus shipping. Since they were in NJ and they had the tires in stock I
got my four the next day. When I took them to the local tire shop to have
them mounted and balanced the tire guys commented on how heavy duty they
were. The ride seems very nice. I am pleased and I just thought I would
pass this on to the list.
The phone number at Jim Breault Tires is 201-997-0400.
After all of the problems people post on the list about finding tires, I
hope this will be a help.
Thanks,
Ken Wilford
