Three blocks must only take one minute. This is hardly enough time for it to overheat which is the result of friction . Oil reduces friction,also cools the engine, and watercooling helps. If you weren't driving hard I'd say you are fine. I drove a VW about 20 blocks without gear oil in the trans but and it worked fine after i filled it . If I had gone on the freeway it would have been another story.

I guess I'd change the oil and filter once just to be sure, and really take a very close look at the drain oil. Maybe even send it out for analysis.
