Hey Folks,

As I sat here reading all the posts regarding leaking/worn heads and head replacement, it made me wonder ... what's the most mileage anyone has gotten out of an original set of heads, with out them leaking or needing to be replaced?

My 1986 Westy has 106k and the heads are clean as a whistle, and all original. No leaks to speak of, and the cyl pressure checked out fine. I do have a reserve account set up, to have them replaced just in case tho. :)

I've heard of many VW's having head replacement done at 50 - 80k. I'd love to head stories from the other end of the spectrum.

Wondering what the record will be ... for some one who's pampered their van (or just gotten lucky).

Just curious dave -- dave bowers Portland, Oregon 1986 Westy "G2"
