Hi Jonathan,

I had a similar problem once. Turned out to be the Temp2 sensor. A cheap fix.

Okay, I know better, but I decided to do two or three things at once. First, I got a new O2 sensor and put that in. With that came a new Muffler (Thanks Cherry) that I put in at the same time. The old one had a few little leaks. Next, I also got a new crossover hose, fittings and gaskets in a kit from Kyle at Volks Café. SO on Thursday I did all of these things. And now, the Van starts and then runs real rich and then after 10 min, stalls and then will not start for a few hours. This seems to me like a O2 sensor problem. I have been over everything else. Thei lines are all in and at the right places. I have started to fool with the timing but to no avail. The plugs are black at the contacts and I smell gas. The exhaust has a strong gas smell and there is an acrid odor (like unburned fuel). Tomorrow morning I am going to go and get plugs and an O2 sensor (another) and set the timing from scratch (#1 TDC and the rotor pointing there) and see what that does.

Am I missing something? Any ideas? I recall something similar with a bad O2 sensor, but this is a new one and I don't recall the impossible to start problem

As an aside to David B. - I did make the Y connector out of plastic - the orifices are not exact, but pretty close. So thanks fo offering to help. I figured that would be the big problem.

It's now late and My battery is tired and so am I.

All help will be appreciated.
