the relays area a good idea even when you have stock wattage bulbs (H4 or whatever). Increases the voltage to the lights for a brighter light. See the instructions on my web page (and link to Ken Lewis' instructions) and the ones on the Daniel Sterns site (http://lighting.mbz.org/faq/)
