Subject: Camping in Westy - where?

You need to hunt around for PRIVATE campgrounds that don't advertise. I found a jewel of a place when I lived in Wichita, KS - Santa Fe lake - $15 yearly car camping permit and $15 yearly kayak permit. $30 a year for stupidly cheap camping & kayaking where there were always places available and spaced far enough apart so that those who were a bit loud weren't right next door. And it was 20 minutes away! Drive from work, go kayaking, crash out for evening, bike or kayak next day, etc. Great escape from congestion of town. I think maybe we need to start a list of places to camp that aren't filled with drunken idiots. Drunks are OK so long as they are quiet . . . . ;~} I'm about to start up my web page - I'd be willing to host a page devoted to those "cool" camp sites. Anybody willing to comment will have the location added to the list. Location, directions, info on what's available amenity wise would be appreciated.
