Just did a search on www.car-parts.com for a 2001 - 2003 Jetta engine.


Prices ranged from an engine with 3k for $995 to a Turbo (non diesel?) for
$3500.


There were a few Turbos listed, but no mention of Diesels. Altogether, there
were 20 - 30 engines listed across the country.


Have a look. I suspect some deals can be found. I scored 2 Vanagon captains
chairs in fine shape for $25.00 each.
