**************************************************** Vacationland VW Association's Buses By the Buoy " An Informal camping weekend" C/O Matt Atwood & Roger Plante P.O. Box 632 Auburn, Me. 04210

Hello VW campers,

My name is Matt Atwood, some of you know me and some of you don't. But I think we have something in common. We love VW Westfalias and we like camping in them. This year I am planning Buses By The Buoy. I am not doing alone though. Roger Plante, a club member and fellow bus fanatic, is helping me doing the planning. We are very excited, and hope you are ready for a relaxing weekend of camping, and socializing with fellow enthusiasts.

Buses By The Buoy will be at Thomas Point Beach in Brunswick, Maine. On September 13, 14, and 15th. Now before you say, " We went there last year, or your breaking tradition." Let me explain. We usually book a campground a year in advance for BBTB. Roger and myself were handed BBTB to late in the year to book a new campground. It was easier for us to have it a Thomas Point Beach, because we were familiar with the campground. Also last year, BBTB was held the same week that the Sept. 11th events took place, which resulted in campers that normally come not being able to. So we will "recycle" the campground one last time, and next year we will move on and continue a great tradition.

Now on to business.... Three things we need to know..

Number 1. Are you coming? If yes, you need to call the campground and make reservations. If you don't make reservations you can still get in, BUT the campground has a limited amount of electric sites and without a reservation you may not get power. The cost is $25 a night for a electric site, and $20 a night without power. Call the campground at (207) 725-6009, and tell them you are with Buses by the Buoy.

Number 2. Do you want the traditional lobster dinner, on Sat. night. If yes, you pay for it when you arrive Fri. night or first thing Sat. morning. Cost is between $15 and $20 a person.

Number 3. Can you bring something to share at the traditional Sunday morning breakfast. If yes, I have a list of things that you can bring. If you call or e-mail Roger or myself, we can tell you what we need. Our phone numbers and e-mail addresses are at the end of this letter.

We will have tee-shirts and sweatshirts for sale, and every bus will get a "goodie" bag. Every bus will receive a traditional buoy to hang on the rear view mirror. They are being painted by Jane Castle and her family. She always does a great job! And last but not least, The Big Buoy. The Big Buoy will be signed by everyone at the event, and by raffled of my pulling names out of a hat on Sunday morning before we caravan. There also will be a raffle for various prizes, and a special free raffle for the kids. After all, they are the future of this tradition.

Well, that's it!! Simple and easy. I hope you all will come and have a great time. We still will do a caravan at the end of the weekend. I have spent time planning a great route.

Sincerely,

Matt Atwood Tel# (207) 783-8078 E-mail: avwfanatic@aol.com Roger Plante Tel# (207) 933-2272 E-mail: jremplante@cs.com
