It could be the switch, but I suspect the relay (number 13 in the rear). Try turning it on and tapping this relay with your hand to see if your system starts working. You will have to remove the plastic cover by the rear hatch on the driver's side to get to this relay. Let me know if you need one as I have them in stock.

Hi Guys,

My 1990 Vanagon has factory air. Controls are dash monted. For several years the 4 speed fan has worked on all but #3. This week I noticed 3 & 4 are both not working. Is this a bad switch or something with the motor itself? Any similar stories out there? Also, I did a r134a conversion on it last year & it blew super cold for the 1st time since I bought the van. This week it is blowing (lightly) warm air. Should I just recharge with r134a or look for leaks?
