I heard recently that this "30 year exemption" was going to be changed.

I'll look into it and let you know what I find out.

Yes, but it will be 30 year old vehicles. It was 25 years, then they changed it to 30. We are in the 5 year waiting period before the affected year starts incrementing again. Right now 73 and older are exempt as you noted.
