Other than both being made in the same country, the two have absolutely nothing in common. Every now and then Excellence magazine runs a buyer's guide on the different P-car models, so that may be a good reference. A check of www.pelicanparts.com might turn up something on the car, too. I've never owned one myself, but my friends who do own them tell me that timing belts have to be changed regularly, and it is not a fun job.Then while you are in there, might as well replace the water pump, too... Kinda like our Vanagon heads - hey, maybe they do have something in common. Another problem in the early 944's was the lower front control arm, but I hear that there are plenty of aftermarket solutions for that one now. Clutch replacements aren't much fun in that car either, but I don't know too many others where they are, either. Hope this helps. Frank Miller |
