Almost every motor oil has improved in the last 20 years to accommodate
the higher engine temperatures and higher Rpms of our current automotive
fleet.
I've been in wrecking yards while they were pulling oil pans picking out
Retail Sell and core engines and many newer engines have windage trays
and oil coolers. The innards don't seem to be sludge up like the big
block iron engines I've torn down over the last 40 years. Even engines in
the 65 and 66 Corvair I rebuilt were pretty sludge up.
I'm going to go back to the fact that the frequency of oil changes has a
big effect on the build up.
If you want a good test case go to the archives and find Three Oil
Changes that I wrote up about eight months ago.
