Subject: replaced spoiler on '90 van
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I have a '90 Carat whose spoiler was half missing and the rest pretty much beaten up. Went and bought a replacement spoiler from the Bus Depot ("VW spoiler kit, stock on 88-91, but fits all Vanagons $139.95 # 2540"). Also picked up replacement stainless steel screws and body washers from a local ACE hardware store.

Well less than a half an hour later, the van looked 1000% better. When replacing the original screws with the stainless steel ones, I also dabbed the threads with white grease, so the next time I need to remove them, they'll not resist... original screws needed the leverage of vice grips to loosen up. Mounting holes matched up perfectly. Took me more time to replace the rear VW emblem!

easiest repair yet short of replacing a cup holder.

Greg
