Thanks for your replies. I went out to check what went wrong and found an open circuit. OK, OK, a blown fuse. I must have blown it when I was probing the new switches with a test light. This was a first for me, the first time I completed a repair without hurting myself or drawing blood. Thanks again, Bill 84 westy 2002 jetta tdi
