Any thoughts on this:

I am the proud owner of an 85 water-cooled Vanagon, it runs great except that it hesitates when I accelerate from a complete stop. It will back-fire a little, then it goes just fine. It doesn't seem to get better if its cold or warm, same problem.

I did advance the timing a little, no help.

New plugs, rotor, wires, etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
