This engine is a great engine with lots of extra strengthening and cooling for the extra stres of the turbo. I've had a lot of interest in putting one in a Vanagon, but as far as I know, I've only heard of two attemps to put this engine into a Vanagon and never heard the final results.

The exhaust plumbing has to be redone....custom made.... on a manual tranny Vanagon, due to the turbo and the clutch slave needing to occupy the same spot. Might be an easier fit into Vanagon with an auto tranny.

If you live in a location where you can get some help custom fabricating turbo plumbing, it should be doable.

One possible issue is the extra heat pumped into the small Vanagon engine bay. This could be reduced by putting scoop type vents on the rear corner air vents to catch the air and force it down into the engine bay.
