no flames today. they are reserved for mike miller. anyway, yes, the 914 enbgine is basically the same engine as the aircooled vanagons. the early 924 engines are actually audi truck engines. later on porsche took the 928 engine and sliced off one cylinder bank and created the 944. even later than that, they stuck all the mechanicals of the 944 into an old style 924 and called it the 924S. that was all done in the interest of having a lower priced porsche. 924S turened out to be mraginally faster on the straighwawy than the 944 dues primarily to better aerodynamics. so i heard...
