A few weeks ago I posted asking for advice on a problem I was having with my van. THANKS! very much to you that replied.

My issue was that the van was struggling to get the gas it had. (step on the pedal nothing would happen, then it rev like normal, also cutting out at stops, sputtering) This was all a very intermitent problem until the exhaust started to get VERY hot after just a couple minutes of runnung time. then the acceleration was always a problem. Couldn't even get to 45 with out fighting for it.

I had suggestions that it could be a clogged cat, or low gas to oxygen ratio for the hot exhaust. For the fix I first Traded out the Air flow meter with a used but much cleaner part from an 84. Seemed a little better but still no fix. Then switched out the ECU from the same 84.. (Same part # on both parts I switched) Also cleaned the ground contacts and put in a new ground strap from the body to engine and changed all contacts from wires to ground. Well This was IT. No more worries, she was running happier and healthier than ever!

Now about a month later guess what.. It's starting all over again. Now what could it be? Coincidence that both ECU's happen to be at the end of the line? An electrical short? I'm stumped. Should I look into a carb and save myself more headache? -Mike

***Who's thanking heaven for this group!
