The 16-valve Scirocco is faster than a 944. Of course, then your buddy would be driving a Volkswagen, and I assume he's after the image if he's looking for a Porsche. :)

I've never owned one, but I can say that I've seen more 944's dead in shop parking lots than I've ever seen on the road..
