Here are my observations as a mechanic in my area ( one of only 3 I know of that will touch a vanagon) .

If you are doing a conversion, you had better be prepared to pull your own wrenches. If someone were to call me with a TIICO and had a problem, I would kind of know what to expect when I got under the decklid, and could easily interface with it. But, when you get into some of the other conversions, they are cut and sliced and put together in so many different ways that a wiring diagram is not available, and the most knowledgeable person to service it would be the installer, that actually knew what went where, etc. My knowledge on cars is pretty VW specific, and it keeps me busy enough with my own fleet and other locals that use my services. I could troubleshoot the basics on a Subaru, etc., but probably would not take the chance for I would not want to be liable for any mishaps......

Just my .02
