I would read very carefully my insurance policy. Check the exceptions page. If the vehicle is not registered, they may have an exclusion that says, we don't pay. It's just something I would want to verify. I know for a fact my policy excludes any claims if the damage occurs on a public road and is not registered. So beware. Those insurance companies got exclusions for your momma.
