Subject: Cheap Westy in OKC- Should I grab it?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

I've got a chance to pick up an '81 Westy (non-propane) Vanagon for $600. It's supposed to be in good condition in and out, canvas is perfect, sink and fridge are operating, and it's running well. The caveat is that third and fourth gear are non-op. The owner says that the transmission problems happened quite suddenly; is it possible that it may be only a linkage issue? My plan would be to swap the trans and other goodies out of my transporter into the Westy. Any thoughts as to the viability of this plan? Might I be biting off more than I could (or should) chew? TIA-

JJ
