I could not open my rear hatch door due to too much luggage in the rear (bicycles, gear, smelly pads, helmets). I had to remove the pressure on the rear hatch door by removing my stuff from inside.

Maybe you have too much pressure on your locking mechanism. Can you hear or feel the lock trying to do something and the lock does not have enough strengh to open? If you feel something, readjust the catch of the lock on the frame. If not, well...$$$
