Ok, here is what i did. You know how you carry a roll of ducttape, right? I needed it for something one day and it ended up between the two front seats. Well, ducttape is sticky on the sides of the roll and it stuck itself to the floor (not forever, but good and firm). A few days later i needed a place to put my grande double latte... in the middle of the duct-tape roll. it is solid there. The fit is snug. Perfect. The tape is heavy enough to keep the coffee upright in the most adverse commute circumstances. Fits a soda can too.

BTW, now i put the coffee cup in my hand and walk the lovely 2 miles to work. Absolute bliss.
