...and I didn't go cheap, but love my Nikon Coolpic 995. The link below my name has several pics...click on the Canyonlands/Moab link at the site once you get there. You can pay $150.00 to $200.00 and get all you will need for what you said you will use it for. Most online shopping guides/sites have digital camera's. I got mine at Cameraworld.com and was happy with the price and service. Nikon has also been very helpful with information about my questions and offers lots of training and tech info if needed.
