Subject: Oxygen sensor and fuel reg. replacement....

I just replaced my fuel regulator on the advice of my mechanic, and am about to replace the O2 sensor - the O2 sensor needs the sheath to be heated and sealed; how important is this and how can the average home mechanic like me do this - like with a lighter?

I also need to get the engine hooked up on the machine to check the fuel mixture - it should be running much leaner now. The nearest volks mechanic that has one of those machines is an hour away (from Port Townsend). Does everyone agree that that's the best way to adjust the air/fuel mixture or can it be done "by feel".

Thanks!
