80-85 vanagons had little rubber cables that hold the glovebox in the open position, '86-'91 had plastic tabs molded onto the glovebox that you bend and always snap off when you try to remove the glovebox when its cold. the 86-91 also have the slots for the rubber cables, in the glovebox, and in the body behind it if you want to put them in. or even better than the rubber, use nylon twine or wire. chris
