I'm in the process of switching my '81 2.0 BACK to F.I. from the progressive card the PO installed. I purchased the complete factory FI system from the same guy, knowing that the double relay was bad. I know VERY little about how this stuff works, but according to him the voltage reading is incorrect at the relay when the ignition is on. The relay had been replaced more than once; he claims a diode in the relays blows when the engine is started, suggesting something is wired incorrectly to the starter. The PO mentioned that the lead from the relay to the starter solenoid may be wired incorrectly; could this be the culprit? He had a diagnostic check run on the system at the dealer, which (supposedly) confirmed that the ECM is fine and the problem lies in the relay. Basically, the system works fine but is not getting fuel at hot start. The cylinder head temp sensor is new, BTW. Sooooo... I have a new Bosch double relay (NOT cheap), that I'm ready to install with the rest of the system. I have the factory wiring diagrams, but I wanted to see if anyone has dealt with this before and knows what I can do to prevent the relay from blowing again. I hope all this info isn't too confusing, but again, I've never messed with this stuff before. If it helps, call me at 405.359.6753. I'm starting in on the swap this afternoon, so any help is MUCH appreciated. TIA- JJ Oklahoma City
