The throttle linkage is all = alrright, I get kick down and all that if i really step on the = gas..............but here are the numbers =20 1st gear.......shifts into 2nd at about 2800rpm........ 2nd gear....shifts into 3rd about 3300 rpm........and when this happens, = 3rd is just a slight drop in rpm.........seems that the shift points are = a little low and really not utilizing the "power band" of the = motor.............. Anyone fooled with this? Jeff answers: Here's my method: I first adjust the linkage under fuel pedal above spare tire, then fine tune at throttle body - prolly where you need to be. Take-up slack if upshift is low rpm or too soon, increase slack if upshift is high rpm or too late. At the throttle body end, don't lose the spring retainer that holds the spring on the linkage to the throttle body when you turn the linkage to adjust. The spring tension is what moves the throttle body, not the adjustment so throttle response should not be affected. On my '89's, the upshift drops the rpm's 800-1300 depending on the rpm range. I adjust so the upshift occurs no later than 4600 rpm WOT. (digiwife) Works for me. Good luck, JB |
