I understand it perfectly.

I'm not the only one with a Westy who uses it as their "escape
capsule"... I'm stuck in an office 60 hours a week. I'm pushing
deadlines, and watching payroll, and trying to serve clients in a cost
effective, punctual, ethical manner. If I fail to schedule an
out-of-office meeting at least once a day, my butt begins to grow roots
into my chair. My left ear is phone-shaped. I sleep with my hands in
typing position.

While I love my work, and love serving people's needs, I am really
scuffed up most of the time.

My primary release is camping. Nature. Water. Sunrise, sunset. Stars.
Natural rhythm. Silence. No schedule. No computer. No phone. No wrist
watch. No Pocket PC. And no clock.

We cover ours with a towel.

A few months ago I bought an 80 Westy, and among other things, the clock
was not working. Today I took a peek a the wiring to the analog clock
and saw that the connector had been purposefully disconnected to the
clock, covered with electrical tape so that there was no chance of it
connecting by itself. I plugged it in and it works-keeps accurate time
so far. Despite the ticking, it doesn't seem to be a bomb....

SO...my question is, other than to stop the ticking noise, is there any
good reason to disconnect the perfectly functioning clock? Is there
something I'm missing here?
