Suggestion: KISS (keep it simple sir) All the evidence you need is in the information you already have. Get it fixed.

This is what happens when you bypass the muffler by removing a piece of exhaust pipe....get it fixed. Let it be incredible to you but go ahead and replace the pipe anyway.
