Andy, If you're driving from the lower 48--and you're not going to be taking the Alaska Marine Highway--you're going to need to drive through Canada to get there. Which means you're going to be crossing into another country with dogs. Which means you'd better make sure your dogs have all the documentation and shots they need, or your dogs will not be crossing the border. Better check with Canada Customs to ensure you have everything you need, if you haven't already. If you're going to AK in winter, I would advise against giving the dogs a metal food dish. T.
