I just bought an '87 Westy Syncro with the Jetta S/A engine (1100 mi) and, although I've made a feeble attempt to check the archives, have found no information about the use of synthetic oils on the engine, syncro tranny and axles. The man who installed the "new, out of the box" engine, said that some synthetics can damage the seals, gasgets in the entine and create leaks. Can anyone here lead me in the right direction to online links, or anyone here have info about this topic. Thanks for any assistance you may have. Bob Stevens '87 Westy Syncro
