This one is essential, IMHO. Found a new (?) product called "Supertape", a silicone tape that sticks/bonds/seals to itself. It doesn't feel sticky on it's own, so it's fairly easy to work with. It has a backing plastic that you remove as you stretch (probably 50% or more) and roll it on. It is tough, pliant, stretchy and heat and chemical resistant, perfect for those tape repairs were duct tape is not good enough. I just love it. I repaired amongst others a blown EGR hose on my Passat, where it's hot, subject to chemicals and prone to pressure fluctuations. No problems yet, some 5000 kms later. I'ts good for a number of things, but what interests me particularly in this product is as a spare part/tool for semi-permanent repair to leaking hoses. Thankfully I havn't had to use it that way yet. Alias Fred aka Bleu Schtroumpf |
