Blaine,
There exist a virus that uses the infected
person's address book to do the "SENT FROM" action.
The sent from addressee need not have been infected
nor would he be aware that his e-mail address is being
used to send the virus. If a person gets a virus
these days it is impossible to know for sure who sent
it but most certainly if you are included in someones
address book you can receive a virus from the infected
address book holder but also be used passively in name
only to send the virus. If someone has the address
vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM in their address book and
has blbachman@aol.com in their address book as well
and they become infected, the clever little virus
could send "blbachman@aol.com" a virus and use the
address "vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM " as the sender
when in fact it is being sent by a third common
infected party. YOU CANNOT GET A VIRUS FROM GERRY.
but you can get a virus from some unfortunate soul
claiming to be gerry after openning the virus.
regards gary
