I have a rebuilt long block from Boston Bob to put in my 1984. I've removed my old engine and stripped it down taking off the water pump, pipes exhaust etc. I know I have to insert the top water pipe behind the pulley before I get to far. I'm surprised the pipe seals good on the water pump side. It just slides in with a rubber o-ring around it. While I have these pipes off should I use steel wool and knock the rust off them. Then paint them? With what kind of paint? How tight do I tighten things? Should I use anti-sieze in places and lock tight in others? I have the Bentley book and could figure out how to put this back together but I'd like to do it as perfiect as possible. I'll maintain and post these instructions if you all can contribute. I can also post pictures etc. Thanks. |
