Hello fellow VW van-type-people, i just joined this list and am delighted at the wealth of information out there... i'm sure you'll be hearing several (hopefully not too stupid) questions out of me in the future. My main question right now is: whether or not a 1.9L waterboxer can be successfully (ie. conservatively) turbocharged. I know that heat is certainly a problem, but what other things should i look out for? Really, this is just an excuse to speed up the process of justifying an engine conversion (and in a fun way). I've researched the archives on this issue, and have just basically seen a bunch of people saying "it probably won't work", but not anyone saying "it didn't work when i tried it". Or maybe i should re-phrase my previous question by asking more pointedly: how can i successfully turbocharge my stock 1.9L boxer? I'd love to hear your ideas on how to get it to work so i can try my admittedly inexperienced hand at it. I'll probably try things like an intercooler; maybe even an oil cooler keep temp. down, and side vent scoops to help a bit? Thanks for your input, and if i ever complete it i'll let you know how it goes (or how loud it goes kaboom :-) -Damon
