The lifters I have in my van are supposedly new. The van is not driven but 5k a year, so if I could run like solid lifters and have to adjust once a year it would be worth it to me to run .006.

I wouldn't have know a person could run hydraulic lifters at .006 clearance if it weren't for Boston Bob, etc.

Am I correct that as long as there is no constant pressure on the top of the lifter that it will not lose it's oil pressure when the van is shut off. Or will the lifters have to pump up every time the van is shut down for a day or two.I guess I am not clear on how no preload solves the cold start clattering valves problem.

And with Boston Bob's hot start problem he had with his van, i.e. the lifters holding the valves open when hot, what wayward mechanics causes that?
