had the same thing on my '86 Westy and replaced all overflow hoses from the main tank to the two overflow tanks. MTBE additives got the best of the hoses after 15 years, they were brittle enough to break. Pulling the tank was a pain but now I don't leave that puddle anymore and don't need to hold my breath for the first 20 miles.
